The fruit is commonly known as Indian soapberry or washnut. It is a deciduous tree that grows in the lower foothills and midhills of Koraput. This is traditionaly used for removing head lice off the scalp and hair cleansing materials since ages. This fruit harvested during the summer and dried for further use. Till now the villages Goldsmiths and Brass-Smiths use it as policing material to give extra shining to the gold and brass articles.
